SINGAPORE – A car flipped over in a tunnel on the Central Expressway (CTE) on Friday morning (June 1), with the affected entrance near Merchant Road briefly closed to motorists.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) tweeted at about 10am that there was an accident in the tunnel, in the direction of the Ayer Rajah Expressway.
It added that the Merchant Road entrance was closed.
A video circulating on the Internet shows traffic slowing to a crawl in the tunnel, as vehicles inch their way past the overturned car.
The car took up more than half of the lane.
Photos of the accident were also widely shared online, though the car driver was not seen in any of them.
The Straits Times understands that no one was hurt.
