HOW TO GET TRAFFIC TO YOUR BLOG or WEBSITE FOR FREE
1.) SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)
This should be most bloggers bread and butter when it comes to driving free traffic to their website. You should strive to rank the content that you’re producing in the major search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo. Implementing proper SEO can bring you in floods of free traffic for years to come. Overtime this can really stack up to a sufficient amount of traffic with the more articles that you get ranked. This is my favorite and most successful method for generating laser targeted and free traffic.
2.) QUALITY & VALUABLE CONTENT
Each piece of content you produce should be high-quality and helpful to your audience. You really want to approach every blog post with a thought similar to “how is this content going to help someone”. Quality, valuable and comprehensive content can 1.) do really well in the search engines and 2.) increase the likelihood of others sharing this either on social media or by word of mouth.
3.) POSTING ON RELEVANT FORUMS
Posting on relevant forums is an old school method but one that I’ve seen success with in the past. Certain forums generate loads of traffic on a daily basis. Try to identify a few popular forums in your niche and start contributing to the threads/questions on there. Again just like the step above, make sure your responses are valuable with the goal of helping people. Depending on the forum, sometimes you are allowed a “signature” that goes below each one of your replies (and some even allow a link). This can be a great way to generate additional traffic to your website from people checking out your signature link. Also keep in mind that forum posts can also get ranked well in Google, making this strategy even more appealing.
4.) CREATING YOUTUBE VIDEOS
Any blogger who is not utilizing YouTube to drive free traffic to their website is really missing out. YouTube is only growing (and fast) in popularity and is one of the best ways to increase your website traffic. Publish high-quality videos and place helpful blog articles of yours in your video descriptions so people can click over to your website. I generate a steady stream of traffic every single day day from YouTube with this method and it’s highly targeted. You can also add a link to your blog in your main YouTube channel area.
5.) GUEST POSTING ON OTHER BLOGS
Guest posting has two benefits as described in the video. 1.) You build a quality backlink which will help with your search engine rankings and overall SEO and 2.) You can generate referral traffic from guest posting from people clicking on your link within the article. Try to make this as on-going effort in your overall blogging strategy for the best results. This can really help your SEO moving forward.
6.) SHARING BLOG POSTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Last but not least is sharing your content on social media. Get into the habit after you publish a blog post to share it on your popular social media platforms. It’s possible that some people will even share it themselves. This can be an awesome way to generate more buzz and awareness around your blog and brand.
